Best Wargame for begginers? 1

Hey everyone. So, ive had Red Dragon in my steam library for quite some time, but ive never got into it. Ive tried again and again to enjoy it but i just end up frustrated because i dont know how things work, and the game doesnt help much either, specially in the case of the campaigns. So, i thought it would be a good idea to play a older wargame game so i can get used to its style of gameplay and then come back to Red Dragon. My question is: which game do you guys think is better for me in this case? I remember i played a bit of European Escalation way back in the day, but i didnt get far because i installed the game in russian and the cd is nowhere to be found, but from what i understand its the only Wargame with a linear campaign, so maybe i should start there?
